If you are 50-plus years this might be of interest, and it is never to early to start practicing healthy living, according to AARP we should say no to these 6 foods, most of the foods listed I avoid because I cook my fries from potatoes and batter my onion rings, all it is is a lifestyle change, since I prefer fresh to frozen or canned.

    1. Fried foods that triple the calories,

    fries, and onion rings.

    2. Sugary drinks,

including most bottled teas, Soft drinks aren’t your only enemy. Bottled teas, fancy coffee drinks, and “fresh” lemonades

    3. Packaged foods with sneaky sugars,

“Hidden sugars can be found in pasta sauces, yogurt, granola bars, instant oatmeal packets, and breakfast cereals,

    4. High-sodium instant meals (think frozen pizzas),

If you think you’re eating a low-salt diet because you don’t salt your grilled corn or soup, consider that frozen pizza or canned soup you just heated up. Those items are loaded with stealth salt.

    5. Ultra-processed snacks,

Many processed foods are void of fiber and nutrients like potassium or magnesium, and they tend to be calorically dense, with a lot of fat and salt, says Joseph Gonzales, a registered dietitian at the Mayo Clinic.

    6. Alcohol,

Alcohol contributes to many health problems, including liver disease, heart disease, kidney disease, immune system function, and neurological diseases like dementia.”

  • In keeping healthy we often use vitamin supplements which is not always the best idea especially if you overdo it. I found this information which can shed light on my reason for saying too much of a good thing is not a good thing.

They are biologically active agents. We have to think of them in the same way as drugs. If you take too high a dose of them, they cause side effects.”

In speaking with CBS News, Dr. Helene Glassberg, an associate professor of clinical cardiovascular medicine at the University of Pennsylvania’s Penn Medicine, says that for someone looking to prevent heart disease, at the top of her list is a lifestyle. “Get it in your diet if you can, from omega-3 fatty fish like salmon or sardines,” she says. “That’s the place to start because these are natural. This is the best way to get it and not spend $30 on a bottle of supplements at a health food store.”

Learn your limits, It can be difficult to get out of bed most days and perform what people without bipolar seem to do so easily. I have spent so much of my time trying to be normal until I finally realized this is my normal. Controlling your mind is not going to be easy especially when the doctors keep changing your medication. I recommend doing Tai Chi classes or getting a disc and using it at home it does help with the motor function of the brain and can benefit your overall health.

For more information about Tai Chi click on one of these links and discover the benefits.

First, find out if you have Bipolar 1, or Bipolar 2,

    https://www.webmd.com/bipolar-disorder/guide/bipolar-1-disorder,

I suffer from Bipolar 1 which simply means I have long episodes of manic depression which can last a few weeks or months, or years. If you do not suffer from this disorder, then please stop judging me because people used to say walk a mile in my shoes well, I say walk ten miles in my shoes. My morning can start out good and by lunch, I have a burning headache

Dictionary describes the disorder as a disturbance of normal functioning of the mind and can be caused by genetic factors or trauma. Still, you are not typical and at one point this has to be excepted so you can focus on ways to help yourself with this disorder. If you have this disorder they call bipolar then you know how hard it can be to feel comfortable in any situation the constant thoughts you are trying to keep under control and still function as what is called normal. Still, you are not typical and at one point this has to be excepted so you can focus on ways to help yourself with this disorder.

B Vitamins are a good start, I also get the shot every three months which helps to control some of the manic episodes, I recommend consulting your doctor about the use of adding vitamins.

You may want to try this Zen garden to help you concentrate on something other than the thoughts racing in your mind.

https://ejada.org/tabletop-zen-garden-kit.html, whatever you do, don’t hide as I have done most of my life.

  • For a long time I have been trying to keep my issues with Bipolar under control. But now it seems that talking about it may be the best way to help find out how others deal with this disorder.

First, let’s understand what Bipolar is according to psychiatry.org Bipolar causes changes in a person’s mood, energy, concentration, decision making, and ability to function. Some people deal with a few of these symptoms. Medication can help control some of the effects but the disorder is always there.

People say you can deal with anything if you put your mind to it but how do you deal with your own mind when it is constantly fighting you. Some say I don’t understand but do not realize that a person with Bipolar mostly can not control their own mind the majority of the time.

Now I recommend trying B12 along with your medications always check with your doctor first before adding a supplement, I had to get a shot of B12 every three months, I know that B12 slows the manic episodes, and I am trying meditation. Those of you that are not born with this disorder be grateful it is a lifelong battle.
